Mindfulness Teacher wanted for Wellbeing Programme
run on behalf of East London charity
The opportunity and context
Rising Minds – a Coaching and Mindfulness Social Enterprise – is looking for a Mindfulness Teacher to co-teach a six-session Mindfulness Course twice a year on behalf of Quaker Social Action (QSA), an anti-poverty charity based in East London. The course is part of QSA’s ‘This Way Up’ programme, which consists of group mindfulness training alongside one-to-one life coaching. It’s aimed at people on a low income in East London (and beyond) who feel stuck in life, with challenging circumstances and difficult past experiences impacting their ability to succeed in the present. More detail here.
We’re looking for someone who has the appropriate training as a Mindfulness Teacher (we’re not too prescriptive about the exact level), as well as having a well-established personal mindfulness practice. We’re open to the amount of actual teaching experience you may have (from lots to very little). Ideally also you will have some experience working in community/social settings, or at least a strong desire to do so. You would have excellent interpersonal skills, and be sensitive to the complex challenges and disadvantages that most people on our courses are facing – including issues around diversity and social inclusion.
You would be co-delivering the Mindfulness Course with the Lead Trainer (Director of Rising Minds), who initiated the programme for Quaker Social Action and devised the special six-session course to complement the one-to-one life coaching. You would need to be comfortable with teaching this course in its well-established form, although your creative input for how the course may evolve would be welcome too.
The six-session programme (each mindfulness session is 90 mins) runs twice a year. The next one will take place in November-December 2021. This may happen in person in East London, or online – depending on the Covid-19 situation at the time. Depending on your level of experience, initially you may be predominately shadowing the Lead Trainer during this programme (with some bits of teaching), with a view to starting to co-teach fully on the following programme in Spring 2022.
The payment for this co-teaching role will be in the region of £600 per 6-session mindfulness programme.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org to introduce yourself on one side of A4. It would be helpful if you could cover in brief the following points:
Personal mindfulness experience
Mindfulness teacher training completed
Mindfulness teaching experience
Your broad professional background and current work (feel free to include a separate CV)
Your interest in co-teaching this programme
Your experience (if any) working in community/social settings
Anything else you think it’s useful for us to know about you
We look forward to hearing from you.
